Maryland Legal Aid appoints Lorenzo A. Bivans, Jr. to Board of Directors

Lorenzo A. Bivans, Jr. has been appointed to serve on the Maryland Legal Aid (MLA) Board of Directors. MLA is a private, non-profit law firm that provides free, civil legal services to low-income communities throughout Baltimore City and Maryland’s 23 counties through its 12 office locations across the State of Maryland. Each MLA office is managed by a chief attorney. MLA offices are supervised by the Executive Director of MLA. The Board of Directors is the governing body of MLA and is committed to policies and practices that support MLA’s mission and vision.

He will strengthen MLA’s commitment to its mission of providing excellent legal representation at no cost to thousands of underserved Marylanders,” said Ben Rosenberg, Chairman of Rosenberg Martin Greenberg, LLP and former co-chair of the Equal Justice Council, the development affiliate of MLA.

Lorenzo is Senior Counsel in Rosenberg Martin Greenberg’s Business Planning and Transactions and Tax and Wealth Planning groups, focusing particularly on the structural and other tax aspects of business transactions. Lorenzo focuses particularly on equity and asset sales and acquisitions and joint ventures, and the formation and restructuring of business entities. Lorenzo advises and focuses on equity compensation and real estate issues, as well as renewable energy, qualified opportunity zone, and other tax credit and tax benefit opportunities. Lorenzo’s practice encompasses many aspects of federal and state tax law.

Lorenzo is a member of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation and the Maryland State Bar Association. Lorenzo graduated from Princeton University and received his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law.
