Rosenberg Martin Greenberg is proud to announce its Tax Controversy Group’s continued sponsorship of Fort Meade during the 2013 tax return filing season as part of the U.S. Military’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. The Military VITA program is a partnership between the Internal Revenue Service’s SPEC (Stakeholders Partnerships Education and Communication), the American Bar Association, and the U.S. Military, and provides free, quality income tax return preparation for military service men and women and their families.
As sponsors, RMG Tax Controversy Attorneys and Staff are trained and certified to prepare basic, intermediate, advanced and military income tax returns under the VITA guidelines, and then serve as instructors for a week in January to the military personnel who prepare returns for military members and their families at Ft. Meade and other local military bases. Members of the RMG Tax Controversy Group assisting with and participating in the Military VITA program include: Brian J. Crepeau, Jim Liang, Julian T. Lee, Seth J. Groman, Elizabeth Shaner, Brandon N. Mourges, Giovanni Alberotanza, Tynisha McKinley, Denise Novak and Angela Gettier. RMG is truly honored to work with the American Bar Association Tax Section, the Internal Revenue Service and Ft. Meade as part of the Military VITA program. It gives us an opportunity to say “thank you” to the men and women who serve and protect our country.
Per Commanding Colonel Brian P. Foley, U.S. Army, “Last year, the Tax Center served over 1700 servicemembers (Including family members and retirees), saved the military community over $565,000 in tax preparation fees, and generated over $4.6 million in refunds. Although Fort Meade is an Army installation, we are unique in that we have over 75 tenant organizations from all different branches of service including the Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. The Tax Center strives to serve all these servicemembers within this large military community, free of charge. Our primary objective is helping those junior Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, and Sailors serving our country who may not have the resources to go to a private preparer. The training you provide has a direct impact on our ability to help these servicemembers.”
In addition to their commitment to giving back to the community, the RMG Tax Controversy Group has also launched a new microsite to highlight their practice area and provide information for those seeking assistance with tax matters. The new website, designed by J. Watson Creative, resides within the RMG brand and is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the tax controversy and litigation client base. Partner Brian Crepeau said of the project, “A team of attorneys can possess paramount legal skills and results, but if their potential client base cannot easily find them, their efforts are wasted. Many individuals with a tax issue begin their search for representation on the internet. Having the ability to educate potential and current clients through our microsite improves our efficiencies when discussing case matters, promotes our successes and showcases our diverse experience.” Please visit the new RMG Tax Controversy microsite at www.rosenbergmartin-tax.com.
